Hey everyone!
Welcome back to our Seoul adventure! If you caught Part 1, you already know that Me and Abbie just scratched the surface of what this incredible city has to offer. Now, let’s dive deeper into the heart of Seoul and uncover even more of its charm.
First Korean Breatfast EVER!
After reuniting with Abbie and exploring my town, we had a fantastic first night in Seoul. Although she was exhausted from all the activities, she managed to get a good night’s sleep. Despite that, she woke up early due to jet lag. My grandma came over to visit us and joined us for breakfast. We enjoyed a delicious meal of samgyeopsal and kimchi-jjigae. It was actually Abbie’s first time trying these dishes, and she absolutely loved them!
Having a huge breakfast for her is quite a new expereience she never had before in America. She thoughts how amazing Korean likes to eat huge breakfast provides energy for daily lives.
Going to Starfield Coex AKA The liberary!
Abbie and I left the house around 9 in the morning after a huge breakfast to help with her jet lag. We decided to visit Starfield Coex, which she had been excited about since seeing it on Instagram. It’s surprisingly convenient—just a 10-15 minute bus ride from my place!
There’s so much more to explore in COEX beyond just the library. After walking around, we caught “Despicable Me 4” at MegaBox, and then we visited COEX Aquarium. I was thrilled to discover they offered discounts for military personnel, which made the visit even better. Although I’ve lived around this area for a while, I had never been to the aquarium before—so it was a first for both Abbie and me!
We had a fantastic time seeing all the marine life, with penguins being my favorite! It was clear that Abbie was mostly enjoying my excitement. Overall, it was a memorable outing filled with fun and discovery!
Exploring Hongdae, I took her to a place, called “Olive Young”
Exploring Hongdae was a brand-new experience for Abbie, especially since she grew up in a small town and had never been on a subway before. She was amazed at how clean and efficient the subway system was, and she was surprised by the sheer number of people bustling about.
As we wandered around Hongdae on a hot summer day, the humidity was quite overwhelming for her, so I decided to take a break from the heat and step into Olive Young. The minute we walked into the two-story store, Abbie was thrilled. Olive Young, with its wide array of skincare and beauty products, quickly became her favorite discovery of the day.
For dinner, we visited Jil Hal Bros, a popular halal fast-food chain originally from New York that’s gained a following in Hongdae. Known for its delicious and convenient halal options, Jil Hal Bros offers a fusion of fast food with flavorful Korean-inspired dishes. Abbie enjoyed the unique twist on classic fast food, finding the halal offerings both satisfying and delicious.
After our meal, we continued to explore the vibrant streets of Hongdae. The area was alive with activity—street performers entertained crowds, and the lively atmosphere of trendy shops and cafes created a dynamic backdrop for our evening. We strolled through the bustling neighborhood, soaking in the energy and excitement that Hongdae is famous for. The combination of great food and the lively city vibe made for a memorable end to our day.
