Introducing Seoul, Korea to my girlfriend -part 7-

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our Korea trip! For those of you who may not know, Abbie and I are in a long-distance relationship, and she recently visited Korea to spend some time with me. If this is your first time here, make sure to check out the link at the bottom to read my previous blog post about our trip.

In Part 7, Abbie and I re-visited Garden 5 for water park, had a fancy korean cuisine with my mom, and walking around Cheongdam-dong! Let’s see what will happen in our journey!

Water Kingdom Songpa Park Habio

Walking around Seoul in the middle of hot summer make me and Abbie to visit Water Park near by my house, called “Water Kingdom Songpa Park Habio”. It was actually my first time visiting there, I never knew any kinds of water park exsited near by my house. To be perfactly frank, I never expected the facility of water park will be good; however, I was quite schoked how neat the water park was.

Once we enter the water park, we both went to locker to get change, and Abbie were quite shocked she had to be nacked in front of so many women she does not know. I honestly forgot to tell her about Korean Culture many Korean are comfortable being naked in front of radom people in the locker room. she were telling me she was embrassed she is the only white woman in the women’s locker room!!!!

Finally, after entering the water park , as soon as Abbie and I notice about water slides, we ran there to ride water silde together. I was thankful for the water park was not crowded by people. We were able to ride wate slide so many times, even we were having fun like kids from grade school.

fancy Korean cuisine with my mom

After a busy day at the water park, Abbie and I were hangry… I mean, we were seriously hangry. So, when it was finally time for dinner, we were more than ready for something satisfying.

Around the time my mom was getting off from work, we decided to meet her at a fancy Korean restaurant to indulge in some galbijjim (갈비찜)—braised short ribs. It was actually Abbie’s first time trying galbijjim, and I was a bit worried she wouldn’t like it because she’s pretty particular about food textures. I was crossing my fingers, hoping she’d enjoy it, since I knew it would be a big hit for me!

Korean short ribs called galbijim!

When Abbie took her first bite, her eyes lit up. The beef was so tender, so soft, that it practically melted in her mouth. The sauce was deep and rich, savory with a hint of sweetness—Abbie couldn’t stop raving about it. She was completely into the dish! Watching her enjoy the meal made me so excited to share more new foods with her.

After the galbijjim, my mom ordered naengmyeon (냉면), cold noodles, for the table—something she’s absolutely obsessed with. (Fun fact: my mom can’t get enough of these cold noodles!) But when Abbie tried the noodles, it was clear she didn’t like them. The texture was too squishy for her, almost like mochi. And, as you can imagine, Abbie isn’t exactly a fan of mochi either!

Even though the cold noodles weren’t a hit, the fried rice made with leftover galbijjim sauce was the real highlight of the meal. Abbie was practically eating it like her life depended on it! To be honest, it was one of the best fried rice dishes I’ve had in a while. The rich, savory flavor of the sauce brought the rice to life in a way that was truly unforgettable.

In the end, despite the noodle mishap, the meal was amazing. Sharing delicious food with loved ones is always such a fulfilling experience. Good food makes everyone happy, and tonight was a perfect reminder of that!

walking around Cheongdam-dong

The dinner we had from Korean cuisine was so immaculate, it made us so full we couldn’t even walk! So, we took a slow stroll around Cheongdam-dong, where we had our meal, letting the food settle while enjoying the lively atmosphere of the area.

The vibrant streets of Cheongdam-dong, lined with stylish boutiques and cozy cafes, were the perfect backdrop for digesting the rich flavors we had just experienced. We were completely stuffed, but the charm of the neighborhood made the walk feel like the perfect end to an unforgettable dining experience.
